2011 GRAND Am Continental Tire Series VIR: Justin competed in the GRAND AM Contintental Tire ST Race at Virginia International Raceway on Saturday. In practice on Friday Justin was P2 and P3 in the 2 sessions, and feeling good about the car, he and his co-driver Chris Brown elected to save the car and skipped the 3rd practice b4 the race on Saturday morning.

Chris qualified 24th out of 36 (there are 2 drivers in the ST series as it is a 2 1/2 endurance race) and when Justin got in the car with 1 and 1/2 hours left in the race he was in 21st place. The race included a number of cautions, 5 in total for 27 of the 55 laps contested.... with at least 8 cars being retired in the mayhem.

Justin fought his way through traffic during his stint and worked his way up to 5th when the white flag was thrown... on the final lap he moved into 3rd place coming down the straightaway after the famous Oak Tree turn, but could not hold it and was passed coming to the checker to finish in 5th.

Next up, historic Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, CT on Memorial Day Weekend.

2011 GRAND Am Continental Tire Series: Barber Motorsport Park, April 7-9. Started 20th finished 12th. Many thanks to the crew at Race Epic for giving me a fantastic car for the Barber 200.

Also many thanks to DAMG Racing and Merchant Services LTD for getting me to the track!! It was great getting back in the car after 7 months, the crew had an amazing pit stop and we worked our way from 20th up to a twelfth place finish. Thanks to my co-driver Chris Brown for handing the car off to me in superb condition.

During the race we were as high as 3rd place. Glad to have avoided the end of race mayhem and got the car home in one piece. Congratulations to our sister car for finishing P3, driven by Jeff Mosing and Jesse Combs.

2010 Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup: Road America - Justin remains tied for 1st Place after an accident filled event at Road America.

Justin started from the sixth position on Sunday, his lowest starting position of the season, but worked his way through a crowded pack to end up in 4th place, barely missing a podium finish by less than 1/2 a second.

The race finished under caution (therefore all competitors had to hold their position) on the back end of the last lap after a horrific accident in turn 4 which saw two cars destroyed but their drivers walk away unharmed. Road America, a 4.09 mile legendary road course, is known for its high speed straight-aways and 14 difficult turns.

During the race weekend 4 cars were totaled. The circuit now moves next week to New Jersey Motorsports Park for a "double weekend" as part of the Mazda Motorsports Festival. Two races will be held which will likely shape the season for the top contestants in the field.

2010 GRAND Am Continental Tire Series: Justin Piscitell started in the pole position on Saturday in the Continental Tire ST race at historic Watkins Glen. In only his second race in a Grand Am event, Justin ran a 2:09:9 on his second qualifying lap which was good enough to gain pole. During the race on Saturday, Justin held onto the top position through 25 laps. He battled with two Compass 360 Honda's, never falling past third as the lead group opened up a sizable advantage over the rest of the ST field. On lap 25 Justin noticed a problem with the left rear of the car. When he pitted the team changed drivers and Jason (Saini) noticed the same left rear problem. When he returned to the pits the mechanics noted the problem could not be repaired on track and the car was retired.

2010 Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup Waves Green Flag on 2010 at VIR
ALTON, Va. - In 2009, AMG racing and Todd Lamb captured an MX-5 Cup-record eight races and knocked off Team MER's streak of three-consecutive series champions in dominating fashion. Lamb is gone in 2010, having already finished on the podium in a Mazda RX-8 in Grand-Am Rolex competition, but AMG has a two-car effort at VIRginia International Raceway with an eye on another successful season.

JUSTIN PISCITELL finishes in 3rd place in his inaugural season as a professional racer in the Playboy MX-5 Cup series and is selected Rookie of the Year by SCCA and Mazda.
In a wild double weekend at Virginia International Raceway, Justin finished P4 and P2 in the two races.

In race one, Justin set the fastest lap of the race, but starting 5th he was unable to work his way to the podium, finishing 4th for his 9th top ten finish of the season.
In the second race, Justin started in P11 due to an engine problem during qualifying, but worked his way through the pack (with the help of an amazing number of racing incidents) to finish 2nd and win the Carbotech Hard Charger award.

His combined points were only surpassed by the series winner, Todd Lamb, but due to a series rule that allows you to drop your lowest finish, Justin finished 4 points out of the second spot. In the 10 events held in 2009, Justin finished in the top 10 Ten times and had 5 podium finishes. He never finished lower than 7th place in the entire season.
Justin received the BF Goodrich Rookie of the Year Award for the season based upon voting by the Sports Car Club of America and Mazda Motorsports.

Another Podium finish for Justin as he captures 3rd place at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham Alabama. read the article here
